Jackie Chan's daughter says she's homeless and sleeping under bridges because of 'homophobic parents'

Jackie Chan’s daughter and her girlfriend have released a video claiming that they are homeless and sleeping under a bridge because of “homophobic parents”.

In the video, Etta Ng Chok Lam introduces herself as “Jackie Chan’s daughter”, and says she’s in Canada with her girlfriend Andi Autumn.

We’ve been homeless for a month due to homophobic parents. We pretty much just slept under a bridge and other things.

I don’t even understand what is going on because we’ve gone to the police, we’ve gone to the hospital, we’ve gone to the food banks, LGBTQ communities, shelters and all of them just don’t give a s**t.

Her girlfriend, a 30-year-old Instagram model, then adds:

We will have to split up if we go to any kind of government facility.

Ng, who is 18 years old, is the daughter of Jackie Chan and former beauty queen Elaine Ng, who he had an extramarital affair with in 1999. Though Chan has acknowledged the affair, he rarely speaks of his daughter in public.

According to Yahoo, her mother had filed a missing person report after she found out Ng quit her job and became “unreachable” to her friends and family.

She later told Hong Kong news website Coconuts;

Etta has emotional problems. She was seeing a doctor last year, but she hasn’t gone to therapy since she left Hong Kong.

Of Autumn, she added:

She’s already 30-something and is a teacher with working experience. How can she tell an 18-year-old girl to film such a video? It’s wrong. I feel that if they have no money, they should go find work. They shouldn’t film a clip telling others they are broke and who Etta’s father is.

People all over the world work hard and don’t rely on someone else’s fame to get money.

Ng has a strained relationship with her father, and once told the Expressthat he's "not my dad [and] is not in my life".

The video has prompted mixed reactions from people online.

Some people are criticising Jackie Chan for abandoning her.

On the other hand, some people have accused the duo of "begging" for money when they appear capable of working.

When Jackie Chan was asked about his estranged daughter coming out as gay in 2017, he reportedly said that “if she likes it, that’s fine”.
