In 2015 there were roughly 1.8 billion Muslims in the world, roughly 24 per cent of the global population.
Christianity is currently the worlds largest religion, but a number of factors are set to see Islam take first place by 2070.
The religion is growing much faster than any other major faith, as the Pew Research Center has found.
Besides Muslims having a markedly higher fertility rate than other religious groups, they're also younger.
In short, expect a lot of babies from them.
By 2050 it's predicted Muslims will make up 2.1 per cent of the United States' population.
