Donald Trump's campaign have released the Trumpiest doctor's letter ever. It claims he would be the “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency” and that his "physical strength and stamina are extraordinary", even though Trump's own statements seem to contradict that.
The Republican presidential candidate released a letter from his personal doctor Harold Borstein, dated 4 December 2015, on Monday which states that over the past 39 years, "Mr. Trump has had no significant medical problems".
Trump’s campaign released the letter, while mistakenly attributing it to author's father, Jacob, who had been Trump's doctor until 1980:
I am proud to share this report, written by the highly respected Dr Jacob Bornstein of Lenox Hill Hospital, stating that I am in excellent health. I am fortunate to have been blessed with great genes — both of my parents had very long and productive lives.
The letter reports that a recent examination showed "only positive results" for Mr. Trump, including a blood pressure of 110/65 and a PSA test score of "0.15 (very low)".
The letter continues:
Over the past twelve months, he has lost at least fifteen pounds. Mr. Trump takes 81 mg of aspirin daily and a low dose of statin.
His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary.
Mr. Trump has suffered no form of cancer, has never had a hip, knee or shoulder replacement or any other orthopedic surgery. His only surgery was an appendectomy at age ten. His cardiovascular status is excellent. He has no history of ever using alcohol or tobacco products.
If elected, Mr Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.
It's a bold claim, given Trump's lifestyle and appearance compared to that of President Obama, who is 15 years his junior and reportedly exercises for 45 mins, six days a week.
In addition, in November, Trump detailed a less than healthy diet during an episode of Bloomberg's "With All Due Respect", as reported by Politico:
