The European Union's regulations are a much vilified part of the Union, arguably one of the primary reasons the UK decided to leave.

Burgundy passports, straight bananas, eco-friendly lightbulbs, that kind of thing.

Back in June 2016, during the heyday of the EU debate prior to the referendum, much was made of an absolute joker who tried to burn a flag of the EU.

The beauty of the piece was that the flag would not light, due to EU regulations on flammable materials.

The gorgeous irony.
