On Saturday the English Defence League (EDL) held a demonstration in Birmingham.

It was the second weekend in which the far right counter-Jihad group met for a public ‘demo’ since the terrorist attack in Westminster.

According to academics who have studied the group, ‘flash points’ such as terrorist attacks often produce a resurgence for the group, but the flash rarely translates into membership or sustained activism.

Most EDL ‘demos’ consist of standing in a car park with some St George’s flags and listening to a Tommy Robinson 2.0 squawk through a loud haler.

A photo from Saturday's demo has gone viral, but not for reasons the EDL would want.

Taken by Joe Giddens (attributed by some to Darren Quinton), it shows the leader of the EDL Ian Crossland attempting to stare down a local.

She is completely unfazed.

The powerful image of defiance has already been shared multiple times.

The winner of indy100’s mock-a-pretend-thug caption competition is the MP for Birmingham Yardley, Jess Phillips.

Who looks like they have power here, the real Brummy on the left or the EDL who migrated for the day to our city and failed to assimilate?
