A Scottish whisky company is using an interesting recruitment technique to find its new sales ambassadors.

After an initial round of interviews, three applicants to the job of global drinks ambassador for Grants whisky are going to be sent to postings around the world, to drink.

In October, each candidate will represent the brand in three locations:

  • Poland, Israel, and India
  • South Africa, the Nordics, and Colombia
  • Russia, Taiwan, and France

In each location these drinkers of fire water will travel between cities, encouraging the locals to drink Grant whisky.

To get to this magic stage, the applicants must pass two stages of a challenge based interview.

Think the 12 trials of Hercules - except there's only two.

First, they must create a drink of three ingredients (one of which being Grants), and then post an image of it on Instagram with the #GrantsInterview

So far there's been 173 posts to Instagram with that hashtag. You're already behind those budding candidates.

From these, they plan to select 250 people (a few short of that at the moment) to be sent application forms.

Then 250 will become 20, who will spend two nights in a hotel for a mixing event.

From these 20 the three travellers will be chosen, and one of them will be given the job of global ambassador.

May the best whisky swiller win.
