Donald Trump has shared a conspiracy theory that CNN gave scripted questions to a student due to speak at a town hall forum for the Florida school shooting survivors.
The event broadcast by CNN was attended by hundreds of students, parents, staff from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, politicians and members of the NRA.
Many of those who spoke at the forum and fielded questions have earned widespread praise for voicing their concerns about gun violence and the influence that the NRA holds over certain senators.
However, the event has not gone without controversy – or at least the belief that CNN orchestrated some of the questions, rather than letting the speakers voice their true feelings.
Earlier on Friday, Trump tweeted the following message and once again called the likes of CNN and MSNBC "fake news".
Trump appears to have seen a report from Fox News journalist Tucker Carlson, who interviewed a student from the school named Colton Haab.
The student claimed CNN had asked him to write a speech for the event, only for it to be heavily edited by the network.
Colton, who is a junior at the school and reportedly shielded fellow students from the gunman, states that he did not attend the event as a result of the CNN's intrusion.
In response to Trump's tweet, CNN has categorically stated that there is no truth to this story and that no scripts were provided to those that spoke at the town hall.
Prior to this, CNN published a statement where they confirmed that they did invite Colton to speak but added there were no scripted questions.
