Florida locals tell experts they have 'turned their back on God' because they now have to wear masks

Shocking footage has emerged from a public hearing in Palm Beach, Florida where irate locals have yelled conspiracy theories and claims about God when trying to protest a vote on whether wearing masks in public should be made mandatory.

Local news station WPTV captured the footage where numerous local people took to the stand and told the room that the officials were 'playing God,' 'following the Devil's law' and acting like 'Communist dictators' in hysterical protests against being made to wear a face-covering in public.

CNN also aired footage from the hearing where one woman claimed that a doctor in attendance was going to be arrested and that she and others were being placed under citizen's arrest, while another said, without irony, that "the problem with humanity today is ignorance, arrogance and apathy."

As things turned more heated, one woman claimed that the experts had 'turned their back on God's wonderful breathing system' while another questioned the doctor's qualifications.

Unsurprisingly it has been reported that those who were opposing the vote were said to be Trump supporters. One woman, who declared herself to be a Trump voter, accused the officials of taking a bribe:

I want to know who is getting paid off and where is the mandate coming from. Well, guess what, the riots are spreading, too! And what the hell are we going to do about that? We’re going to arrest patriots for not wearing a mask? That’s what you want? And I say Trump 2020!

Another outrageous claim came from a man who said he was willing to die for Constitution in opposition to having to wear a mask:

You probably already have your orders already taken care of. You don’t really care. You could have at least faked it. You do not care about We the People. It’s pathetic. It breaks my heart, because I would die for that flag, I would die for this country and I would die for the Constitution.

The vote, which was unanimously passed was brought forward after Palm Beach saw a sudden rise in confirmed cases following Florida's first phase of reopening on May 11. During her testimony at the hearing, Dr Alina Alonso director of the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County, said that although people are entitled to their rights "our numbers are going in the wrong direction."

Palm Beach's vice mayor Robert Weinroth, who was initially opposed to enforcing the masks in public admitted that he had changed his mind after learning of the sudden spike in cases. He said:

I hate the idea of talking about mandatory face coverings. It goes against my grain. But the numbers we saw this week were just out of this world.
