15 cartoons that sum up the little moments you realise you're an adult

Being an adult is basically alternating between doing grown-up things – like spending hours in supermarkets and asking for presents you need instead of want – and questioning when you’ll start to feel like an adult.

Thankfully, 27-year-old illustrator Cristina Vanko, from Chicago, is here to help.

She has posted an illustration every day for the past 153 days, called 100 Days of Adulting, each starting with ‘You know you’re an adult when…’.

She told indy100 she started the project - which has gone way over the inital 100 days - as a 'creative challenge', and explained how she gets her ideas:

I've been out of school for six years, and during that time some of my friends have gotten married, started families, moved across the country, or even to other countries, changed jobs, and even become well known in their fields.

It's pretty clear to me that we're growing up, so as I come up with each post I think about things that have changed since first becoming an "adult" and then I take the little things I see on a day-to-day basis like "making the bed"  or "favoring brunch over partying" into consideration as well.
