British swimmer Hannah Miley is confusing the hell out of Americans

With the Olympics well under way, the next two weeks will see social media permanently alight with news, results and speculation about the performances of sportspeople and bets on which country will take home the most gold medals.

To that affect, Hannah Miley began trending on Twitter on Saturday night

Apparently, some Twitter users thought the trending name was referring to the resurrection of Miley Cyrus's dead and gone Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana:

People were disappointed that Hannah Miley is actually a Great Britain swimmer

On Saturday, Miley competed in the final of the Women's 400m Individual Medley and lost out on a bronze medal.

The Miley Cyrus jokes came in abundance...

Luckily, most seemed to be clued up on the Olympics, and you know - the world - and expressed sympathy to Miley missing out on the podium finish.
