Back to the Future.
The quintessential 80s film that made millions off a story line which included scenes where Marty is forced to fend off the advances of his own mother.
Still, the film exists in a comfortable place in our minds and the title, evoking the same comforting nostalgia as the likes of Teen Wolf and Sixteen Candles.
And it wasn't just a film: It became a brand, a franchise. A way of life.
Earlier this year Nike even released Marty McFly shoes which, like in Back to the Future Part II, use self-lacing technology.
But what if indy100 was to tell you that Back to the Future was very, very close to being called something completely different?

Yes, horrified fans, you read correct. The film was almost called Space Man From Pluto
Space Man. From Pluto.
In a letter to director Steven Spielberg, Sid Sheinberg, president of Universal TV and a studio executive at the time had conveyed his love of the script, but not so much for the title.
The title leaves much to be desired. There are a number of reasons why I found the title less than “wonderful” but my primary concern is that it appears to make the picture a “genre” picture.
Um, right. But SPACE MAN FROM PLUTO?
Needless to say the goodly people of Twitter were equally appalled...
Some suggested sarcasm on Sheinberg's part...
But ultimately, people were relieved that Spielberg stuck to his guns
Because Pluto shoes would not have become a thing.
