This is the average number of sexual partners a person has in their lifetime

If you’re the kind of people who wonders how your sexual conquests measure up to other people's, then you’re in luck.

A survey of more than 2,000 people in the US and Europe has revealed how many sexual partners people have had in their lifetime on average.

And it's quite revealing.

Men, have slept with six people, and women seven, on average, according to the Superdrug survey.

Brits are apparently a busy bunch.

The survey also revealed that women who’ve had 14 or more sexual partners are considered “too promiscuous” by men. Women, on the other hand, are slightly more forgiving, and say men who’ve had 15 partners or more is too many.

Both sexes agreed that seven was the ideal number a sexual partners for a person to have in their lifetime.

And, surprisingly, three in 10 people say it’s likely or very likely that too many sexual partners is a deal-breaker in a relationship. Brutal.

But our preferences differ depending on the country. People in France say the ideal number of sexual partners for a person to have is 10, compared to six in the Netherlands.

But we're not exactly totally honest ourselves.

On average, 17.5 per cent of men have exaggerated the number of people they’ve slept with, compared to just 8.2 per cent of women.

And 18.6 per cent of women have downplayed the number of sexual partners they’ve had, compared to 13.7 per cent of men.

Men are twice as likely to lie about their number than women, whether the truth is higher or indeed lower.
