Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has ruffled a few feathers since she became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress in the 2018 midterms.

The representative-elect for New York has risen to fame thanks to her smart digital campaigning and online transparency, presenting Instagram livestreams to speak directly to voters.

But her success has also made her a target for conservative politicians and commentators.

On Sunday, conservative critics attacked Ocasio-Cortez for referring to the “three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House” in a livestream.

The three branches of US government are actually the executive (the presidency), legislative (the House and Senate) and judiciary (the Supreme Court).

Conservatives pounced on what they saw as proof of Ocasio-Cortez’s political ignorance and evidence she is not fit to work in government.

She even received an attack from former vice-president nominee, and walking gaffe generator, Sarah Palin.

Palin previously referred to the “department of law” in the White House, which does not exist, and incorrectly claimed the US Constitution was based on the Bible

But instead of taking the attacks, Ocasio-Cortez fought back on Wednesday, tweeting:

Cognitive dissonance is Republican commentators stalking, doctoring, + editing my casual livestreams out of context in order to sow doubt in my intelligence, all while blindly supporting a man who thinks our greatest defense against forest fires is: A Rake

She was referring to Donald Trump’s comments on how to protect California from wildfires, where he suggested Finland prevented fires by raking its forest floors.

Ocasio-Cortez also recently tweeted support for Ariana Grande, during her feud with Piers Morgan.

It’s safe to say that despite her critics, Ocasio-Cortez isn’t planning on backing down anytime soon.
