Right-wing YouTubers make vile jokes about Greta Thunberg’s Asperger’s diagnosis

Teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg has been mocked for having Asperger’s Syndrome on a right-wing YouTube show.

The comments were made about the 18-year-old Swede on the latest edition of Steven Crowder’s Lowder with Crowder show, which premiered on Monday.

In a segment where they were discussing firearms and President Joe Biden’s attempts to curve the gun violence epidemic, Crowder and his crew start by mocking David Hogg, a survivor of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, who has become an activist.

They question whether Hogg was actually on the scene of the aforementioned shooting but criticise him for being a child “who doesn’t know very much like Greta Thunberg.”

One of Crowder’s co-hosts then asks “isn’t there a new Greta now?” In response, Crowder quips: “I think almost like new Coke. New and improved Greta.” The co-host then replies: “Yeah, there’s more Asperger’s in this one.”

Crowder initially responds with “oh jeez” to the tasteless remark but the rest of his crew find it hilarious. His co-hosts then go on to suggest that “they” need a new Greta Thunberg because she is now too old and whoever “they” are are paedophiles.

Thunberg has been open about her Asperger’s diagnosis since she became a public figure in 2019. In September of that year, she posted about her condition on Instagram saying: “I have Asperger’s and that means I’m sometimes a bit different from the norm. And – given the right circumstances –being different is a superpower.”

This is hardly the first time that Crowder has attracted controversy for the content of his show. Last month, when talking about Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, he said that the racism she claims was subjected to “should be duck off of a biracial — water off a biracial duck’s back if all they’re just saying like.”

Crowder recently had his YouTube channel demonetized after he promoted false claims that the US election was fixed against Donald Trump.
