Melania Trump will visit the African countries her husband reportedly called 'sh*thole' nations

Cast your mind back to January, specifically the time that Donald Trump reportedly called certain African countries 'sh*thole nations'.

Well, now first lady Melania Trump plans to visit these African countries in October - and she plans to make the trip without him.

In an interview with the Associated Press, she said: "This will be my first time travelling to Africa and I am excited to educate myself on the issues facing children through the continent."

A spokeswoman for Melania, Stephanie Grisham, said she was looking forward to bringing attention to humanitarian efforts and development programmes in the African nations.

The Washington Post reported earlier this year president Trump asked lawmakers in an Oval Office meeting why so many people from 'sh*thole countries' comes to the US, referring to Haiti and other countries in Africa.

Trump also lamented why 'people from countries like Norway' don't migrate to the United States in larger numbers.

Melania revealed the rough plans for this trip the same day she spoke out against cyber bullying at a summing in Rockville, Maryland.

People are speculating that her comments on bullying and now her solo trip serve to troll her husband, who, in case you didn't know, like to regularly use Twitter to moan, whine and bully anyone who doesn't agree with him.

She said:

Let's face it: Most children are more aware of the benefits and pitfalls of social media than some adults, but we still need to do all we can to provide them with information and tools for successful and safe online habits

The exact countries Melania will visit and the dates were not told during her announcement.
