James Comey posts cryptic ‘response’ to Mueller report into Trump and everyone is confused

The Mueller report did not find collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia’s government but people still have a lot of questions.

One of those people is former FBI director James Comey.

Comey was fired by Trump in 2017 and many people have argued that his firing was an example of obstruction of justice by the president.

But the special counsel’s report left the judgement on whether Trump committed a crime to the attorney general, despite not exonerating him.

So after nearly two years of investigation, the Mueller report doesn’t say Trump committed a crime but it won’t say he didn’t commit a crime…

Confused?

You’re not the only one.

On Sunday, Comey tweeted this cryptic message, which is either a response to the report or an unbelievably badly-timed post.

This isn’t Comey’s first cryptic tweet of the weekend either, after he posted this one on Saturday.

And obviously everyone assumed he was talking about Mueller.

Trump-supporting senator Lindsey Graham tweeted an equally cryptic reply, which appeared to be referencing the investigation.

It’s not clear what that message means but it could mean Graham is planning on calling Comey to testify to Congress.

Whatever is going on, it would be helpful if important public officials didn’t tweet like teenagers on Tumblr.

Comey has managed to annoy people on both the left- and right-wing of US politics, due to his role in the FBI letter which Clinton supporters say cost her the election and his role in investigating Trump.

So when he decided to tweet on Saturday, he got abuse from all sides.

Of course, it is possible Comey wasn’t tweeting about Mueller and just wanted to show a picture of some nice trees.

Meanwhile, Democrats are calling for the Mueller report to be officially released so everyone can try to work out what on earth is going on, here's hoping.
