Trump reportedly irritated by old clip of him throwing paper towels to hurricane victims

Donald Trump last week managed to confuse just about everyone by describing the US government response to Puerto Rico's Hurricane Maria as "successful."

To recap: 3000 US citizens were killed, making it the deadliest hurricane in recorded US history.

But now reports suggest that he's changing his tune somewhat, and specifically becoming irritated by a clip which showed him throwing paper towels into a crowd of relief workers.

Many criticised the video, describing it as evidence of his lack of empathy.

He had previously discussed the incident during a televised interview with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee last October, explaining:

They had these beautiful, soft towels. Very good towels.

I came in and there was a crowd of people, and they were screaming and they were loving everything. I was having fun, they were having fun.

They said: ‘Throw 'em to me! Throw 'em to me Mr. President!

In the same conversation, he described being frustrated by what he viewed to be a skewed portrayal of what actually happened.

He also previously claimed that he was “not to blame” for the fatalities resulting from Hurricane Maria, as well as disputing the official death toll and essentially claiming it was rigged against him.

These comments have resurfaced now that Hurricane Florence is raging across of the US southeastern coast, and people aren't letting him forget what happened nor are they refusing to hold him accountable. Twitter has been filled with messages criticising his response to Maria.
